Landscaping evolved.

An eco-centered approach

Home landscapes are reflecting a growing awareness of the need for sustainability.

We’re moving beyond the sparse manicured lawns and exotic plantings of the past. Landscapes designed with a sensitivity toward local conditions and natural systems prioritize local plants and wildlife, reduce the urban heat island effect, and make smart use of natural resources like water and native soil.

By choosing an environmentally conscious home landscape, you can have a beautiful, enjoyable outdoor space while also making a meaningful impact on the environment. Your efforts can reduce water, chemical, and pesticide consumption, promote biodiversity and habitat for wildlife, and create healthier soil and water.

About Jennie

Thoughtful landscapes heal the earth, and us too.

I came to landscape design and consulting after more than a decade of working in corporate HR. Although I had a thriving career in the tech industry, I was chronically burned out. Whenever I could find time, I would retreat to my Central Texas backyard for gardening therapy. The connection to nature helped heal my mind and body, as well as the scarred landscape I inherited when I purchased my home.

In 2019 I made a career change to inspire others to enjoy and care for our environment and themselves. I embarked on a formal education through the Landscape Architecture Masters program at the University of Texas School of Architecture with hopes of working at a regional or municipal scale. While at UT I had the opportunity to study under some incredibly talented and forward thinking faculty, and was able to serve as a Graduate Research Assistant at UT’s Center for Sustainable Development. I researched issues and practices pertaining to ecological restoration, biodiversity conservation, and carbon farming, all of which further cemented my conviction about this work.

In mid-2020, my work/study plans and childcare were upended due to the COVID-19 crisis and I sadly had to leave the masters program to attend to matters at home. It was then that I began offering landscape design and consulting to neighbors, friends, and family. I quickly realized that many people are interested in gardening and creating more sustainable landscapes, but didn’t know where to start. This led me to advising clients at home throughout Austin.

In 2023 I started a TikTok account to help spread the word about how transformative our landscapes can be, for ourselves and the environment. I also began offering virtual consultations throughout Texas. No matter where you are in your journey, I hope that you find this information helpful. You are capable of so much.
